We are currently hiring on behalf of a fast-scaling player in the crypto and financial technology space for an experienced Legal Counsel. This is a high-impact legal role for someone with strong regulatory expertise in Switzerland, combined with a global outlook on legal matters spanning the EU and US.

The successful candidate will lead legal and regulatory efforts across the organisation’s operations, ensuring robust compliance, sound risk management, and support for international expansion. This opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and brings deep expertise in Swiss financial regulations, self-regulatory organisations (SROs), and anti-money laundering (AML) frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Contractual & Commercial Legal Support

Draft, review, and negotiate a range of legal agreements including:

• Grant and funding agreements
• SLAs and third-party vendor contracts
• Token-related agreements
• Terms and Conditions for digital platforms, token rewards, and incentive schemes

Partner with commercial and operational teams to provide practical, risk-aligned legal advice.

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

• Advise on compliance with crypto, fintech, and financial regulations across Switzerland, the EU, and the US.
• Maintain and manage ongoing obligations relating to Swiss SRO memberships (e.g., VQF or similar).
• Develop, implement, and maintain internal compliance policies (AML/KYC, data protection, conflicts of interest, internal controls).
• Serve as a point of contact for regulatory bodies, auditors, and external counsel.

Governance & Risk Management

• Support the design and maintenance of internal governance structures and compliance frameworks.
• Provide legal guidance on emerging risks aligned with strategic goals in the crypto/fintech domain.
• Contribute to internal audits and regulatory readiness reviews.
• Maintain and manage a well-organised internal legal and contract management system.

External Counsel & Research Management

• Stay informed of legal developments in digital assets, financial data, and global regulatory environments.
• Conduct legal and regulatory research to support internal decision-making.
• Manage relationships with external law firms and advisors, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

• Law degree and bar admission in Switzerland or another relevant European jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of post-qualification legal experience, ideally in the crypto, fintech, or financial services sector.
• Solid knowledge of Swiss financial regulation, including experience with SROs and AML compliance obligations.
• Experience working with or advising regulated entities and companies with structured internal control environments.
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations, general contract law, and corporate governance best practices.
• Experience coordinating external legal providers and handling regulatory interactions.

• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and strong legal process management.
• Ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable business advice.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional language skills are a plus.
• A background in financial data or experience advising companies handling proprietary financial content is a plus.
