As the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you will be at the forefront of driving innovation in the DeFi space while leading a highly skilled engineering and technical team. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our platform, combining your deep technical expertise with strategic vision to deliver cutting-edge products that redefine how everyday users engage with decentralised finance. You will lead the charge in building scalable, secure, and innovative technical solutions that align with both short- and long-term business goals.

As a key member of the executive team, you will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This role requires an exceptional leader who thrives on transforming complex financial concepts into user-friendly, game-changing solutions, using your extensive knowledge of blockchain, crypto, and DeFi ecosystems.

Your First 6 Months:

• Technology Vision & Strategy: Collaborate with the CEO and other executives to define and execute a long-term technical vision for the company, ensuring that the technology strategy aligns with business objectives and the product roadmap.
• Team Leadership: Lead and grow a high-performing technical team, mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• System Architecture: Oversee the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient technical architectures for DeFi and trading products, ensuring performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
• Product Development: Partner with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver new features and enhancements on schedule while maintaining a user-centred focus. Ensure that all development efforts are aligned with product-market fit and scalability.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure that all systems and products adhere to the highest standards of security, compliance, and data protection, particularly in the high-stakes world of financial trading and blockchain.
• Innovation: Stay ahead of technological trends in blockchain, DeFi, and AI, leveraging new opportunities to enhance the product and create competitive advantages.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical leader for the company, setting the direction for technological advancements and infrastructure improvements.
• Strategic Alignment: Work closely with the executive team to align the technical strategy with the company’s overall mission and goals.
• Scalability: Build systems and processes that can scale with user growth and market demand, ensuring that performance remains optimised under high loads.
• Innovation: Lead initiatives to explore and integrate emerging technologies, such as zkEVMs, Layer-2 scaling solutions, or AI-driven insights, to drive product innovation.
• Cybersecurity: Oversee all security protocols to protect user data and maintain trust, managing risks associated with DeFi platforms and financial technologies.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, design, and business teams to translate business needs into technical solutions, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on timelines and deliverables.
• Mentorship & Growth: Foster an environment of continuous learning and technical excellence, mentoring team members and supporting their professional growth.

Knowledge & Experience:

• Experience: 10+ years in technology leadership roles, with significant experience in the blockchain, DeFi, or fintech sectors. Proven track record of building and scaling technical infrastructures.
• Blockchain & DeFi Knowledge: Deep understanding of blockchain technologies, including consensus mechanisms, smart contracts, Layer-2 solutions, and the DeFi ecosystem. Experience with DEXs, yield farming, and tokenomics is highly desirable.
• Leadership: Proven experience leading and mentoring engineering teams, with a strong ability to inspire and drive innovation in a fast-paced environment.
• Security Expertise: Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices and regulatory compliance, particularly in financial and DeFi environments.
• Agile Development: Extensive experience working within Agile and Lean methodologies, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams through fast-paced development cycles.
• System Architecture: Expertise in building scalable, resilient, and secure platforms, particularly for high-transaction environments such as DeFi and trading.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to use data analytics, market research, and user behaviour insights to guide technical decisions and product enhancements.

Desirable Skills:

• Mobile & Web Development: Strong experience in mobile and web application development, with a focus on delivering seamless user experiences in financial and crypto contexts.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Expertise in cloud architecture, with experience building secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions on platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• AI & Machine Learning: Familiarity with AI and machine learning techniques for data analysis, user insights, and predictive modelling.
• DeFi & Crypto Expertise: Experience designing for dApps, token economies, and DeFi-specific systems, with a strong passion for staying ahead of blockchain trends.
