The Shadowy Trails of a Crypto Whale: Unveiling William Parker’s Dubious Past

In the ever-evolving landscape of cryptocurrency, the line between aggressive trading and illicit activity often blurs, leaving room for nefarious actors to exploit the system. Recently, blockchain investigator ZachXBT cast a spotlight on such a figure, unveiling William Parker’s dubious pastโ€”a UK-based trader known for high-stakes manoeuvres on the digital asset platform, Hyperliquid.

Unmasking the Trader

ZachXBT’s investigation, revealed on March 20, points to William Parker, a UK citizen with a checkered past, including convictions for financial crimes across Finland and the UK. Parker, who has been active under the alias MELANIA and the X handle @qwatio, came into the limelight between January and March for his high-risk leveraged trades on Hyperliquid, claiming to have raked in nearly $20 million in profits.

However, questions quickly arose about the legitimacy of these profits when ZachXBT accused Parker of funding his trades with assets gained through cybercrimes. Parker swiftly denied the allegations on X, stating:

“[ZachXBT] is wrong here. Interested to donate but by his logic he would be labelled a scammer if we do. Big problem โ€“ ability to taint an address by dusting.”

Tracing the Digital Footprints

ZachXBT’s meticulous scrutiny into Parker’s blockchain activities initially revealed connections to platforms like Binance, Roobet, and Alphapo. Notably, the investigation highlighted that Parker had acquired his X account, as shown by a recent name change, prolonged inactivity, and its age.

Furthermore, further examination exposed Parker’s links to fraudulent schemes. Specifically, he followed CryptxxCatalyst, an account involved in phishing scams. Blockchain records from January 2025 showed Parker manipulating a casino game and targeting phishing victims, with his linked wallet receiving $17,100 from these scams. This wallet also received drainer fees in another exploit.

ZachXBT additionally uncovered gambling transactions tied to Parker’s Telegram details across four Solana-based casinos, which helped confirm his identity. Moreover, a recent transaction from wallet 0xe4d3 linked directly to a UK phone number registered under William Parker.

A History of Deception

Parker began his criminal activities over a decade ago. In 2023, Finnish authorities convicted him for stealing $1 million from two casinos. Operating under the name Alistair Packover at the time, he later changed his name to William Peckover and faced fraud charges in the UK during the early 2010s for offences involving hacking and gambling.

ZachXBT’s concluding remarks were stark, “It is abundantly clear WP/AP has not learned his lesson over the years after serving time for fraud and will likely continue gambling.”

According to data from Arkham Intelligence, a wallet associated with Parker currently holds over $23 million in digital assets, raising questions about the sources of these funds and the integrity of his recent financial activities.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the challenges and risks inherent in the digital asset space, particularly concerning the ease with which individuals with a criminal past can engage in and potentially exploit crypto markets.
